A new ‘Xploit’ idea…
Filed Under Xploit | 5 Comments
I would like to thank my droppers, just like most of us. I already have the rss feed of my inbox listed in my left sidebar - but I want to do more… Dropping back on purpose is against my policy (I have policies you see) and filling the sidebar with those server-load widgets is just not good enough as most people are blind to them anyway. No, I want to do something else - hear my thoughts:
The Basics:
The idea behind the idea
Do you remember those powerdropping pages? You know, a blank page with only the Entrecard code so you could drop without visiting the blog (read: loading a bunch of stuff)? They are forbidden since the last changes in Entrecards rules as they were devaluing the credit currency. Despite the fact they are now abandoned, they were a huge success because it was easy. This is somehow the idea, behind the idea.
The idea that enriches the idea
There are many possibilities to say ‘thank you’ to a dropper. You will certainly have seen the known “This months biggest droppers” lists (and if you don’t, you will soon). Making these lists they actually give out permanent links to the droppers. Other blogs have contests like “Drop and get a chance to win a comment” or “Drop and get a post about your post”. All nice ideas but still not the thing I was looking for.
Apart from these you also have the widgets I mentioned earlier, but I’m afraid they are simply not that effective - and with some widgets you may even get the opposite result as the loading time is very important. Related to these techniques there is also the matter of why they do it. I mean, with some blogs I have the feeling they only do so to get dropped and not to say thanks.
I want a combination of the two so I would give an incentive to drop on my site, but after dropping I want to be sure the dropper gets rewarded too. All of them, not just a top 10 or so, and if possible even multiple times. So this is how I would enrich the idea: let my droppers enjoy the same benefits as myself, every day again.
The idea
The idea would be the following: Make e.g. 20 ‘powerdrop’-pages using the blogs of my latest 20 droppers as content. Everyone can make use of these pages to ‘powerdrop’, and if they drop on my blog, they will be automatically listed in these pages for as long as the twentieth dropper after him passes by (and moving the blog at spot #21). This is very theoretical and most likely very confusing but I do hope you get the point. If it could help you visualize the idea - I’ll explain how a ‘powerdrop’ page would look like:
1. The blog itself should be visual;
2. ‘Powerdrop’ means in this case the visitor doesn’t have to search for the widget so the widget will be ‘recoded’ at e.g. at top;
3. To advance the “powerdrop” situation, a simple ‘next’ (and ‘back’) button will be visible for easy navigation to the next blog (that dropped me).
Why I think it would be legal
a) Powerdropping has been marked as illegal because of the following rule: “Any drop done through any means other than visiting the blog”. However, like I said - the blog will be visible;
b) ‘Recoding’ the widget at e.g. the top place of the browser is actually the same as the WordPress plugin “Entrecard Popper” and this plugin has been accepted by Entrecard;
c) Making use of ‘next’ and ‘back’ buttons is merely a simple version of the Entrecard toolbar.
d) To avoid the use of macros or any automated program/script I would shift the ‘recoded’ widget heavenly to left or right (or top or bottom) while still containing it in a reserved box.
To sum things up…
People who drop (but also when only visiting) at my blog can get access to the blogs of the previous droppers with a click on a button. This will give them the possibility to drop fast. (Incentive 1)
After dropping at my blog, their blog is available to the next droppers with only a click on a button (Incentive 2).
What do you, as bloggers, as Entrecard colleagues think about such a possibility? Do you understand what I mean? Share and discuss!

Entrecard AdManager Version 2.1
Filed Under Entrecard plugins | Leave a Comment
There are a lot of people having problems with the plugin - mostly they only end up with a blank page - but there is some news about this.
While it is uncertain why some servers do accept the exec-php code and others don’t is not sure. However, MrParkle has written a new installation file which doesn’t require the plugin but makes use of a tag replacer. So if one version doesn’t work, you can always try the other one. Just be sure to read the readme file for proper installation and to know which one is which.
The plugin works great here, and I tried it on another blog and strangely enough, it didn’t work. After installing the plugin again with the other installation file all worked as intended.
You can still find the plugin at MrParkle’s site or at the official WordPress plugin site.
I hope this will help most of you!
PS: Still not having success with my database leftovers - it won’t take long anymore before I simply give up and move on… ![]()

Entrecard in a glance

What is Entrecard?
Entrecard is an innovative blog tool used for advertising combined with an attractive network. The point of Entrecard is to get Entrecard credits, EC in short. With those credits you can buy advertisement space - a standard 125*125 button - which hopefully give you traffic.
How do you get the EC?
The way you can earn the EC is a unique system, and therefore also Entrecard’s strength. There are four ways to get those advertising points:
1. Drop your card on other blogs that are utilizing Entrecard (Entrecard widget)
2. Hope that others do the same with your card
3. Sell your advertisement place
4. Posting at your blog
5. Buy them at Entrecard
6. Community-based ’selling’
Dropping your card or getting dropped gives you each 1 credit. You may only drop 300 cards for a blog per day with a limit of 600 drops per ip. Getting dropped, however, has no limits. Each and every Entrecard-colleague is allowed to drop a card on your blog. Meaning, if 1k visitors wants to drop a card on your blog - you will get 1k EC. Unfortunately - the chance that you will get that many drops is a one of a kind.
As mentioned above, you can also sell your ad-space for EC. The cost for the advertiser, or your profit, is determined by the system of Entrecard and reflects the length of your queue. This means, the longer your waiting queue the more it’ll cost to advertise on your blog.
Posting at your blog gives you a small but nice reward. For every post you get 25 EC, however: this reward is only given once in three days. Rewarding the blogger for posting, raises the motivation, resulting in a higher blog quality. The reason why they only give you this reward every three days is to overcome the so-known ‘farmer’-syndrome.
A ‘farmer’ is someone who does everything for gaining EC. Up until a few weeks ago, farming EC was allowed by Entrecard. Most common reason for farming EC is to sell them at eg eBay but also to transfer credits to a certain blog to raise the traffic and gaining a higher money-advertising income. Farmers gain a quick buck but Entrecard’s economy is not strong enough to survive such techniques and are actually lowering the Entrecard quality.
Another way to get EC is to buy them at Entrecard. Entrecard uses a fixed price - releasing buyable EC carefully for not harming the economy system. For them it is only a revenue generating option - for us it is a great way to see how much one EC is officially worth.
EC were previously sold at Entrecard at a EC1000/$9,50 rate. Because Entrecard recently forbid the black market in EC they also had to lower the rate, thus the reason to have a black market for it. At the moment of writing the official rate is: EC1000/$6. Before the devalue, the black market had a ratio of plus minus EC10000/$20.
